We are delighted to have been announced as one of Develop's "10 New Studios to Watch in 2008". Develop is in a unique position at the games industry's heart detailing the latest business, coding, art, sound and game design trends, as well as featuring interviews with creative and commercial leaders in the field.

"There are number of things that are unique about Dark Water. Firstly, it's based in Northern Ireland, a country not especially known for its game development output. Secondly, the company has evolved from technology firm and sister company Instinct Technology at the start of 2007 ...

... After winning a DETI grant for a broadband content initiative earlier this year Darkwater started working on DogFighter, an initially free-to-play title due for release next year."

DogFighter Wins Through as "Exemplar" Project

Department of Enterprise, Trade and InvestmentIt has been announced today that Dark Water's DogFighter project has been listed as one of DETI's exemplar projects for their "Broadband Content Initiative".

DETI stated...

"The Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment wants to show the world that our creative sector can produce broadband content second to none.

In order to get exemplars of what Northern Ireland companies can produce the department launched the "Broadband Content Initiative" in April 2006. This £1.75m initiative is part of the Secretary of State's Skills and Science Fund. It has also received widespread support from the communications industry including BBC, BT, BYTEL, Cable and Wireless and the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission. ..."
