Concept Artist

Responsibilities
  • Conceptualising characters, vehicles, weaponry, levels and working through from thumbnail to realistic high quality finished rendering for print, as a modelling template or as a start point for level designers.
  • Applying a consistent "look and feel" to all concept work to create a thoroughly stimulating environment.
  • Working closely with the Producer, Lead Artist and Production Team to realise the art style.
  • Estimating and maintaining timescales and deliverables.
  • Ensuring timely delivery and quality of work assigned on schedule.
Requirements
  • Excellent drawing skill and a knowledge of anatomy, perspective, composition, framing, layout, colour, rendering.
  • Ability to deliver thumbnails and ideas quickly before finishing approved concepts to a high standard.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable with taking direction/constructive criticism.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop/Painter although training will be provided.
Desirable
  • Published and well received game title on PC or console or concept work for broadcast media or movies.
  • 3rd level qualification in a related discipline
  • Any set or level design experience.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical/industrial design.
  • Experience in 3D package such as 3D Studio Max or Maya.
